Stone Imperial Russian Stout

BEER REVIEW: Stone Imperial Russian Stout (IRS) by Stone Brewing Company

Do not fear the IRS. That is, if you are referring to the Imperial Russian Stout (IRS) of the Stone Brewing Company. Fresh to the Chicago Bar Scene, Stone Brewing Company has been a welcome addition to the taps & coolers of local Chicago pubs. If you are at a local neighborhood bar and spot a beer from Stone Brewing Company, order a pint and enjoy. I did just that with the Stone Imperial Russian Stout.

This full-bodied Imperial Stout is brewed in the style of the old Imperial Stouts brewed back in Russia during the 1800's to impress Russian Czars. When a Stout boasts itself as a "Russian Imperial," you know you are drinking a royal brew! The IRS from Stone emits powerful aromas of coffee, chocolate and caramel and the taste is incredibly smooth and favorable. Almost like a fine coffee, this fantastic stout is best enjoyed after a hearty meal or accompanying a rich and meaty entree.

The Stone Imperial Russian Stout is rarely found on draft, my recommendation; make your way to Paramount Room in the River West neighborhood. They currently have it on draft, but for how long? If you find the Stone IRS somewhere else, please pass it on.

Stone Imperial Russian Stout is Highly Recommended by Gonzalo
